Afghanistan Squad for Sri Lanka ODI Series 2023 Announced

The Afghanistan will tour Sri Lanka in June 2023. The Afghanistan cricket board have announced an ODI squad of 15 players for the Sri Lanka tour 2023 for a three-match ODI series.

India will host the ODI World Cup in October of this year. Before that, Afghanistan could use the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka as a warm-up. Due to this, they have declared a powerful party.

After an impressive showing in Afghanistan’s domestic ODI Cup, young all-rounder Abdul Rahman earned his first call-up to the national team. However, the reserves are Shahidullah Kamal, Yamin Ahmadzai, Zia-ur-Rahman Akbar, and Gulbedin Naib.

Hambantota will host all three games of the Afghanistan series. The Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium will host all matches. The inaugural ODI will take place on June 2. The final two matches will take place on June 4 and 7.

 

Afghanistan Squad:

Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Rahmat Shah (vice-captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hasan, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhil (wicketkeeper), Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujib ur Rahman, Noor Ahmed , Abdul Rahman, Fazal Haque Farooqui, Farid Ahmed Malik.

Reserves: Gulbedin Naib, Shahidullah Kamal, Yamin Ahmadzai, Zia ur Rahman Akbar.
